Effects of Bush Creek East Fire Scotch Creek Cottages and Surrounding Area (as of October 2023)

Due to the actions of local heroes, firefighting services and being very lucky, we are extremely relieved to have survived the 2023 Bush Creek East fire. We can once again welcome guests to the resort and the still beautiful Shuswap area for next spring, summer, fall and years beyond. Area businesses will also welcome the patronage of our returning customers.

Though the town and other areas in the North Shuswap suffered devastating losses, many of the essential structures in Scotch Creek and the area around Scotch Creek Cottages survived with at most minimal damage. Captains Village Marina, grocery/liquor and hardware stores, gas stations, the pharmacy, Be Teased, The Hub and Creekside restaurants, and Raven Cafe survived. The Home Hardware store was damaged, but despite their lumber yard and outbuildings burning, they have now been able to reopen.

Although the North Shuswap is a special area with many very resourceful, strong and energetic people, there is still a real need for assistance to help with individual support and community rebuilding. Shuswap Community Foundation could be a good way for anyone interested in donating to help with the recovery.
